An introduction to my work
In 2014, with no previous experience, Istarted working with natural reclaimed wood, parts of trees, and leftoverbuilding materials from earlier building renovations in West Virginia. In recognition that I had been moving some ofthe remains multiple times, in some cases for over two decades, I decided tomake some other use of the various items.
With no background in art other than designrevolving around interior house renovation, I am self taught in this form ofrepurposed mixed media. The pieces chosenoften caused a flow to the creation. Mystyle has evolved without plan until more recently. As I understand more what I can do, or wantto try to do; I think more about what I want to achieve with a particular pieceor project. In my pieces, you will find texture, found items, contradiction, play with color, and in some cases, whimsy. A few pieces are even functional!
Some would call it junk art. Most pieces are of a rustic of nature, notperfect and usually not polished. Allresult in one of a kind décor items for your home, second home, man cave, children’s room, or office.
The mixed media presentations have led tothe name I use: Leftovers by Chas.
